Vernal’s Youth Football league held its annual “Superbowl” last weekend at the Uintah High School football field, with the local Cowboys coming out on top in a close game, ending the game at 13-12. The “Superbowl” was held Oct. 10, and the undefeated Cowboys were able to narrowly hold on to their undefeated status, fighting the Packers for the big win.

The youth football program is a joke. Stacked teams so that there is not even competition. Coaches more worried about how their kids do and their win/lose record, not taking the time to teach proper fundamentals that will make their players better.

I moved here from the wasatch front, and it was like my boy went back two years. The kids here are at least two years behind skill and knowledge wise compared with where we came from. It's no wonder the H.S. program struggles competing agaist their new region opponents. The feeder system has to improved if the H.S team is to get dramatically better.

I even tried to help my sons team by trying to teach some basic fundamentals that were being completely ignored. The coach got pissed at me for doing that. Why not accept the any help that is available? Why do little league coaches have to be so arrogant and think they are this great coach because their team is stacked and they went undefeated, etc.?

It needs a complete overhaul.
