The Spot hosts Vernal’s Got Talent contest
The Spot Entertainment Club is bringing a new music talent competition to Vernal, giving people the chance to audition Saturday, with any genre of music, to enter into the Vernal’s Got Talent competition. The music competition will feature a wide range of ages and have every type of musical talent, from solo instrumental to group singing. There will be shows in February with the chosen contestants performing in front of four judges as well as the fifth judge being the audience choice, audience members will be able to text in or write notes, telling who they think did the best. Eliminations will happen at each show. The first show will be the longest having approximately 20 contestants to perform. Winners in first, second and third places will receive cash prizes. The first place grand prize is studio time to record a few tracks of their music. “When we started this we didn’t realize how many people in the Basin have music talent and how many like to perform,” owner of The Spot, Josh Hermann, said. Auditions were held last Saturday, and will be held again this Saturday Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If anyone is interested in auditions but cannot make the time, call Hermann to set up another time at 801-358-0463. As part of the new local live performances, The Spot is working with KVEL radio to hold live shows based on the talk show presented by Dr. David Law. The courses teach married couples to be better spouses and parents how to more effectively nurture their children as well as answer questions brought up by audience members. The family night courses will begin Thursday Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. with the first show having free admission.
