U’ettes dominate at Murray, region is next
The Uintah High School U’ettes continued to regulate on the competition at the Murray Classic at Murray High School on Jan. 13 and 14, sweeping all categories. It was the U’ettes third straight competition taking the 3A overall winner award. The U’ettes placed first in Hip Hop, Military, Dance, and Character. “We were able to compete against teams we previously haven’t come up against this year,” said assistant coach Rachel Murphy. “It was great to see how we stacked up in comparison.” Senior and dance captain Amber Morton placed second in the drill down competition and soloists Madeleine Duffin, Havana Wheeler both finished first in their categories. Larissa Pearson took a close third in her category. “Our main purpose over the last three competitions has been to gain performing and competition experience and to refine our choreography,” said Uintah head coach Robin McClellan. “However, we have yet to see all the southern schools and cross-town rival Union High School, who have all had impressive finishes this year. I’m confident though, that if our dancers execute and perform to their potential, they will be the team to beat at region and state.” The Murray Classic was Uintah’s last competition before the region championship, Friday night at Union.
